Heavy Evie's was established in June of 2004. It was formerly Lisa's Center Diner.
The interior was completely gutted and rebuilt, new equipment was installed, new plumbing, etc. What started out as a minor project, of course, snowballed. We had to borrow money and time from friends and family in order to open with a bang.
When the business had to be registered with the State, a name had to be picked. Debbie Blood (the owner) wanted to name it in memory of her best friends mother, Evelyn Wilson of Paxton, who passed away in 1998. She was going to name it "Evie's" but people pronounced it wrong. Evie's daughter used to affectionately call her "Heavy Evie" because she was a little over weight....Debbie asked Evie's husband if he thought calling it "Heavy Evie's" would be alright with her and he said he didn't think she'd mind. So, that's where the name came from.
People keep coming back to Heavy Evie's for
good food at the right price.
Heavy Evie's menu includes handmade burgers, sandwiches, salads and pasta, steak and chicken and pizza...all of your favorites. Our
selection of appetizers will whet your appetite for more. And our desserts are
the perfect end to a delicious meal. No matter what you order, it's always
served with a smile by our great staff.
In an effort to support other local companies, we have fresh ground, fresh brewed coffee from Caravan Coffee in Worcester. Our meats come from Leroux's Meat Market in Holden, and our fresh haddock comes from West Boylston Seafoods.
We look forward to feeding you and appreciate your business very much!
